Unquenchable Thirst

There is a thirst, for Team Fortress 2, I find it unquenchable.
I’ve been having WAY too much fun in this game, so now I crave it.

Eventhough the grade of addiction a certain game brings, does not necessarily value it’s potential as a good game, I can sincerely claim that the goodness in this game is, in fact, substantial.
If you haven’t heard about it, chances are you’re not into PC games, or videogames in general. But I am very much actually - thanks to TF2 - so forgive my testimonial.

There is another game that is packaged within “The Orange Box”, called “Portal”. Portal is a ground-breakingly innovative puzzle-game, in which you solve puzzles with the portal-gun. Too bad it’s so short (I clocked in 6h to beat the game with advanced levels).
TF2 and Portal alone are worth buying this Orange Box, but you also get HalfLife: Episode One and Two, and the original HalfLife with it.

See you in-game sometime! I’m already looking forward to stabbing you in the back/torching you/lobbing a grenade in your face/clubbing you to death/rocket-jumping your head/shred you to pieces with my minigun/puncturing your ass with syringes/having my turrets tear you a new one.

Coming up

Next friday I’m going to a concert of The Arcade Fire in “Vorst Nationaal” (near Brussels). I’m really looking forward to seeing them perform live. To prepare myself I’ve been watching some YouTube video’s, but I guess these aren’t representative, because you miss the entire atmosphere that’s going on when they’re playing. Don’t prove me wrong Arcade Fire! :)

In the weekend of 10 & 11 november, I’ll be joining a group of dutch people & belgians heading towards the Eastern Midlands. Nottingham to be more precise. To compete in BattleUK II: Attack of the Cones. As you would’ve guessed, it’s a Freestyle Slalom competition and I couldn’t miss out on that, now could I? A bunch of people I haven’t met in real life are coming over as well, so that should be exciting too. There will be pictures and a report when I get back ofcourse.

As for ConeCrazy, we’re working on a new logo and site layout/color scheme, as well getting a weekly 2 hours in the sports accomodation center “Demerstrand” in Diepenbeek, Belgium. If things go as planned, we should be teaching/practicing slalom the week after BattleUK II.

Naomi Grigg Workshop °2

So last weekend Naomi Grigg was in the country, and being the good student I am, I joined in on the workshop.

There isn’t much to say about it, except that it was great and totally excellent, once again…
And really f’ing tiring, once again…

Among other moves, we got taught the Revolt, Lazy Volte, Total Foot and Pendulum. Add these to the ones we already learned in Groningen and that gives us a bunch of moves to practice on.

Naomi if you’re reading this: Thanks for being so good at teaching. I really enjoyed it (both workshops). I sincerely mean it.

PS: Thank you Thomas for providing a place to sleep!

Naomi Grigg Workshop

Last weekend we went to a Freestyle Slalom clinic, given by the one and only Naomi Grigg.
We learned quite a few new tricks, and also had some guidance in style.
Too bad it didn’t last longer than 2 days, I really didn’t want to go home.
We made some new friends, and got to see old friends again.

It was the first time I met Naomi. And I have to say, eventhough I heard a lot about her and watched her videos on the internet many many times, meeting her in person is different. She has this really familiar vibe to her that is hard to explain. Suffice to say that she is, in fact, a really cool person, and really good at teaching as well.

The pictures I took can be found below.
Here are some pictures that Marleen took.
And here are some pictures of Arnold and Jurgen.
Thomas also recorded a bunch of video’s, maybe he’ll put some of that stuff online as well.

There is another workshop in 2 weeks, in Belgium this time, so it’s kind of hard NOT to join that one as well :)
Looking forward already, since a lot of friends I haven’t seen in a while are joining in on this one.
If you’re interested, you can find more info about this workshop here.
