Love and Marriage

Well, yesterday my niece got married and I was invited to the drink.
It was great to see all my cousins and nieces again, hadn’t seen them in a while.
She’s the first from the grandchildren to get married and she seemed very happy.
Good for her. I wish her all the best in her marriage.

In other news, Autumn is here!
Finally! My favorite season has arrived. I love the colors it brings to the world, and the atmosphere it holds.
I think I’m going to visit “Ter Kameren” (near Brussels) this year. They’ve got a lovely park there, which is particularly beautiful in autumn.
I’ll post some pictures after I went over there.

Loving your weapon

One loves the weapon by embalming it with lineseed oil.
Before 1, 2.
After: 1, 2.

I used simple toilet paper, which I folded first and then sort of dipped the oil in the toilet paper. I then proceeded to rub the oil all over the sword. (”After” pics)

Now I need to let it dry for one full day, and afterwards clean off any redundant oil that remains on the sword.

These tips I got from the man at the store (Sakura) where I bought this perfectly balanced bokuto made out of authentic japanese oak.
The man at the store also told me they grow these trees in China, because tree-planting in masses has been forbidden in Japan.

If you are interested in the ways of the Japanese, you should definitely visit the Sakura shop. You will find it just across “De Witte Non” in Hasselt (Belgium).

PickNick at Schulens Meer

We had a great day today at the Schulens Meer in Schulen.
Nice relaxing fun after a rough night of serious boozing, at a birthday party my sister and a friend of hers were throwing (at our house).
Pics of the afternoon of today are almost up. You can view them by clicking through “Pics” in the menu, or easier by clicking this link.

The Arcade Fire

The Arcade Fire is a band I recently heard on the radio with their song “Rebellion”.
They have a sort of light classical touch to their songs, which was the first thing I noticed when I heard Rebellion for the first time.

Aside from this first song I heard, it seems their album Funeral is pretty well put together as well. They come off strong with the first track “Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)”, and the rest of the tracks that follow are kind of an addition to the first one. It’s noticeable in the track-titles too (Neighborhood #1, 2, 3 and 4).

If you’re planning on checking them out I recommend you listen to Rebellion, Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels) and Wake Up.
